At the end of January we went to the Balkans for the first elooa BALKAN POWDER ADVENTURE presented by Nitro Snowboards, more precisely to the Šar Planina mountain range in North Macedonia and Kosovo! On board were 12 participants, 2 elooa guides and a professional photographer and filmmaker.

The journey started in North Macedonian Skopje, where we went straight into the mountains for the cat operation in order to get untracked terrain for the next two days to start our journey. After checking in at our accommodation, a briefing from the mountain guides and a delicious dinner was waiting for us. The following day we headed into the backcountry highly motivated. The weather was perfect and the unbelievable mountains with a distant view as far as Kosovo and Albania showed up for the first time. After a storm last week, the snow conditions weren't perfect yet, but we enjoyed a great day with over 10 runs. Surprisingly, 40 cm of fresh snow fell overnight and the second day was just incredible: Countless runs in playful terrain with small pillows, tree runs and open slopes for all participants, crowned with a traditional meal in a remote mountain hut. Exhausted but also overjoyed, we continued in the afternoon to our second station, Brezoviza in Kosovo. Luck was again on our side and after a 3-hour drive in heavy snowfall we arrived late in the evening right behind the snow plow in the ski area. Day 3 of our trip started with 50cm of fresh pow in a completely untracked ski area and bright sunshine. Followed by days 4 and 5 of catboarding in conditions that allowed runs of over 1000 meters down into the valley. Countless vertical meters every day in a huge area with open and playful terrain. Huge powder turns, tree riding, cliffs and banks with a breathtaking backdrop. Of course we lived, ate and celebrated 100% "Balkan style" always surrounded by locals and a unique hospitality. After four perfect days in Kosovo, our trip ended back in Skopje. After a nice final evening and delicious food in the old town of Skopje, some sightseeing awaited the next day before everyone started their journey home again.
