Last weekend at Diedamskopf, all participants at the elooa SPLITBOARD BASE CAMP presented by K2 experienced a great splitboard weekend with fresh snow, lots of sun and cozy hut evenings including steaming hot sauna.

Equipped with the brand new K2 splitboard models Freeloader and Marauder as well as avalanche safety equipment from BCA BACKCOUNTRY ACCESS we went together on Friday afternoon with our mountain guides and always accompanied by the last rays of sunshine to our mountain hut at almost 1700m elevation, which serves as the base for the tours of the next few days.

Great conditions with fresh snow and sunshine awaited us on Saturday morning. Ideal conditions for several short tours with great powder runs. During the ascent there were valuable tips and exercises for all splitboarders on topics such as ascent techniques and terrain assessment. The campers reached the first summit at almost 2000m, around noon and what followed was a great descent through varied terrain and fresh powder. After a short lunch break and an extensive avalanche training, there was another ascent to another summit and a great run back to our hut. For those who still haven't had enough, there was a powsurfer session with the new K2 Tree Splitter going on. Afterwards there was even a hot steamy sauna and of course a well-deserved dinner waiting for us. In the cozy hut there was also a theoretical keynote on the subject of avalanche awareness in the evening.

Sunday morning was sunny but also very icy and so we started laid back up to the summit. An endlessly long run followed back to the starting point in the valley, where smiling faces reviewed this tour-packed and instructive weekend before it was unanimously said: "Thank you elooa for the great camp and Servus until next time!”

A great splitboard weekend with smiling faces came to an end and we are already looking forward to the next elooa SPLITBOARD CAMPS - hopefully also with you!
