Last weekend not only was the start for all newcomers to splitboarding successful, but fortunately also the timing and the choice of Kleinwalsertal for our elooa SPLITBOARD BASICS CAMP presented by K2. After weeks of green meadows in the Alps, the snowfall that started a few days before the camp gave us good conditions with powder and sunshine. All splitboard newcomers were able to learn so many new things and collect their first touring experiences!

The camp in Kleinwalsertal was addressed to all interested shredders who have always wanted to try a splitboard on simple routes and under expert guidance. Equipped with brand new K2 Splitboards and avalanche safety equipment from BCA, the participants were familiarized by experienced Splitboard professionals with all the basic techniques and accompanied by certified mountain guides on their first tours.

It started on Friday evening with a splitboard workshop, where all splitboard components were explained in detail and the K2 test material was assembled together. Great conditions with 30cm of fresh powder and bright sunshine awaited us on Saturday morning. Ideal prerequisites for a first unforgettable splitboard tour with untracked powder runs. During the ascent there were valuable tips and exercises for all splitboard newbies on topics such as ascent techniques and equipment. Overjoyed, the campers reached their first summit with the splitboards and what followed was a great descent through varied terrain and fresh powder. Back in our cozy mountain hut, a well-deserved dinner awaited us, followed by a theoretical keynote on the subject of avalanche awareness.

Unfortunately, Sunday morning was rainy in the valley and so only a short tour to higher areas followed, which was rounded off with a detailed practical avalanche transceiver search exercise. Back in the valley, smiling faces reviewed the tour-packed and instructive weekend before it was unanimously said: "Thank you elooa for the great camp and see you next time!"
