We’ve been dreaming about crossing the Alps on a splitboard for a while. About rising up to such a challenge far away from mass tourism, immersed in fascinating mountainsides and overlooked by famous peaks, rewarded with endless powder runs. Thanks to the experience of five years elooa Splitboard Camps and the cooperation with our mountain guides we could now realize this incredible adventure in combination with the our unique POW HUNTER TRUCK middle of March!

To enable this, we only set the date and packed the participants on board of our unique Expedition-Hotel-Truck for 5 days. This way we were location-independent and could cross the main chain of the Alps from the northern end, passing through famous wintersports resorts, to reach the southern foot.

The high temperatures with almost 20 degrees in the valleys and the fatal avalanche danger of the last week forced us to reject the originally planned tour. And who wants to ride slushy snow southwards when there are top conditions on the north-faced glaciers? Without the flexibility with our truck, we would have had problems. So the route was redefined shorthand.

We started on Wednesday morning at 8:00 in Munich and went straight on with our truck to Oberstdorf in the Allgäu. There we provided a complete K2 splitboard equipment as well as a BCA backcountry access avalanche safety equipment and started the first day trip through the Kleinwalsertal to Warth in Vorarlberg. In the next days, the crossing of the Tyrolean glaciers followed. From the Stubai Glacier up to the Hinterer Daunkopf with 3225m over the Sulztalferner down into the Ötztal. On the next morning from Sölden via the Rettenbachferner and Hängenden Ferner to the 3277m high Fernerkogel and over the Mittelberg Ferner down into the Pitztal. On the fourth day we had to change the plan due to bad weather with storm and rain and went straight with the truck to South Tyrol. From Sulden below the 3905m high Ortler we climbed the 3376m high Cima di Solda. And on the last day we went back to the Kaunertal Glacier, where we were greeted with 20cm fresh snow before we went home to Munich in the afternoon.

In 5 days we experienced together with our certified mountain guides and with the help of lift support a mountain adventure of a special kind including endless long, breathtaking powder runs through lonely glacier worlds. We are already looking forward to a new edition in the next winter season!
